Selama ini Asensio lebih banyak beroperasi sebagai pemain sayap kanan di Madrid. Namun, Asensio mengaku tidak senang hanya bermain di satu posisi. Asensio meminta pelatih Julen Lopetegui memberinya kebebasan dalam bermain.
"Saya bermain di berbagai posisi di lini serang. Tapi, saya tidak senang bermain di posisi yang tetap. Saya butuh kebebasan untuk bergerak dan menciptakan peluang," ucap Asensio.
Terakhir Asensio mengaku tidak khawatir dengan beban yang dia harus hadapi di Madrid. Pemain timnas Spanyol itu yakin bisa mengatasi beban di El Real.
"Saya berusaha tidak terlalu memperhatikan harapan besar untuk saya. Setelah dua musim meraih hasil bagus bersama Real Madrid, beban yang saya dapatkan adalah hal yang normal. Saya hanya berharap bisa melewati harapan itu," ujar Asensio.
